BBAC and Live Lebanon Support Recreational Activities in South Lebanon
BBAC and Live Lebanon-UNDP have unveiled a new project in the village of Rachaya Al Foukhar. The project, which was funded by Live Lebanon’s Goodwill Ambassador for Australia Mr. Fadi Zouki, constructed a grandstand for a football field with the support of the Municipality.
The opening was attended by many civil society representatives, Head of Rachaya Al Foukhar Municipality Mr. Salim Youssef, UNDP Social and Local Development Programme Manager Mr. Raghed Assi, Head of BBAC Hasbaya branch Mr. Jamil Zwein, in addition to Heads of Municipalities from neighboring villages.
The importance of this project lies in the fact that it provides a public space for local residents to motivate the youth of the village and neighboring areas to do sports and recreational activities that create an atmosphere of camaraderie and affection, away from daily pressures that generally burden the Lebanese people. “We hope to provide a space for youth to come together, be active, interact and engage in healthy leisure activities. We hope most of all to provide a release from every day stressors and re-instill in this community a sense of pride in Rachaya Al Foukhar,” said Mr. Zouki.
Amid difficult circumstances that Lebanon is facing, the partnership between ‘Live Lebanon’ and BBAC continues with its commitment to implement sustainable solutions through high-impact projects that target the most disadvantaged communities across the nation.
