The Bani Sakhr School in Wadi Khalid in northern Lebanon has inaugurated a project to renovate the school, with support from Live Lebanon-UNDP in partnership with BBAC, and Live Lebanon's goodwill ambassador Mrs. Boran Buweiri. There was a celebration held in the school – in the presence of representatives from the UNDP and BBAC – as well as a number of teachers.

After the national anthem, the principal of the school, Mrs. Halum Uthman, gave a speech in which she thanked the efforts of the Live Lebanon initiative to improve the educational sector and support government schools, also thanking all participants in the project. The UNDP representative, Miss. Hanin Fakih, likewise thanked those who participated in the completion of the project, and stressed UNDP’s commitment to supporting similar projects across the country. She also committed to helping government schools improve their infrastructure, in order for them to help the largest number of students possible, in a healthy environment. The Head of BBAC’s Tripoli branch, Mr. Ali Darwish, expressed the importance of the project, a project whose scope extends to all students. He spoke of how young people are the future of Lebanon, and how Lebanon has to be ready for the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure a healthy and prosperous future. As for Mrs. Buweiri, she expressed her happiness at the completion of the project, stressing her continued support for the Live Lebanon initiative in order to achieve sustainable development.

The importance of the project lies in the rehabilitation of the school, to improve the educational services for students and ensure them a safe environment. The initiative has provided essential and necessary equipment to the school’s classrooms and staff rooms, including tables, chairs and bookcases. It also provided key infrastructure to the school’s science lab.
