To celebrate their commitment to creating academic and recreational opportunities for youth in the country, BBAC and Live Lebanon inaugurated two projects in North and Mount Lebanon that aim at providing the youth through sport with the opportunity to get active and stay healthy, build skills, and develop self-confidence in the hope of making themselves, their communities and the country better.

The first project in Ain Yaacoub-North Lebanon was inaugurated on the very playground Live Lebanon constructed, in the presence of the Head of the Municipality, Mr. Majid Derbas, and the UNDP Country Director, Mr. Luca Renda. Providing social and cultural opportunities for rural youths, the newly built sports field and playground offers a chance for social interaction between young people. After the inauguration, a friendly basketball match took place between local youth overjoyed with their new sports field.

The second inauguration of the Baakline project in Mount Lebanon topped off a busy week. Live Lebanon in partnership with BBAC renovated the village’s deteriorated basketball court and built a park for children with outdoor toys. The Head of the Municipality, Dr. Noha Ghoussaini, the UNDP Deputy Country Director, Mr. Shombi Sharp, and BBAC area branch manager, Mr. Amine Timani were delighted that the community’s youth had new opportunities to socialize and stay active. Reflecting upon the project, Dr. Ghoussaini said that, “BBAC and Live Lebanon’s support of Baakline has injected the community with a new sense of purpose as we look to the future with hope.”

Mrs. Bouran Bouery, Live Lebanon Goodwill Ambassador for Western Europe, provided distinguished support to the projects, saying “I am proud to be part of such an initiative that acts where is needed the most without distinguishing between religions or political affiliations.”
