To protect your BBAC plastic cards, we recommend the following guidelines:
When using your BBAC plastic card at an ATM:
- Retain ATM slips: Do not throw away the ATM slips right at the ATM site so potential criminals will not know how much you withdrew or how much money you have in your account. Keep your slips to compare against your monthly statement in case there is an error or securely dispose of them.
- Never trust strangers: In the event of any technical problems at the ATM or if you require clarification, make sure to call BBAC plastic cards and e-banking customer support on 01-374174 or BBAC call center on 04-727747. Never talk to strangers; you may end up sharing your account information.
- Maintain distance: Make sure that the person standing behind you can not read your transactions while operating the ATM. Some thieves resort to this "shoulder surfing" to retrieve sensitive ATM card information.
- Be aware of your surroundings when withdrawing funds: Choose an ATM that is in a safe place and watch for suspicious persons or activity around the ATM. If you notice anything out of the ordinary, come back later or use an ATM elsewhere. Consider having someone accompany you when using the ATM after dark.
- Protect your pin: Ensure no one sees your PIN when you enter it. When conducting transactions, always use your hand or body to protect your PIN.
- Refrain from displaying cash: Do not let anyone see how much money you withdraw, and never count your money at the ATM. Wait to count your money until you are in the safety of a locked enclosure, such as a car or home.
- Remember BBAC's 30 seconds rule: After completing your transaction, remember to directly take the card and the withdrawn money from the feeder as the ATM machine will beep to remind you or else the ATM machine will retain the card or the money after 30 seconds.
- Report your card lost or stolen immediately: No matter where you are, report lost or stolen cards to minimize loss and liability by calling BBAC plastic cards and e-banking customer support on 01-374174 or BBAC call center on 04-727747.
BBAC plastic card security tips:
- Sign new cards and destroy old ones: On receipt of new cards, do attest your signature on the backside. Make sure to destroy old cards (expired or misplaced cards) and remember to use replaced cards with the new PIN.
- Maintain PIN confidentiality: Memorize your PIN. Do not write it anywhere, especially on the ATM card or store it in your wallet with your card and never share it with anyone including bank staff or family.
- Card protection measures: Do not mark on, punch holes in or bend your card. Do not scratch the magnetic strip of your card. Avoid storing your card in areas subject to excessive heat or in direct sunlight. Do not allow the card near magnetic fields.
- Report to bank: Treat your card like cash and always keep your card in a safe and secure place. Contact BBAC plastic cards and e-banking customer support on 01-374174 or BBAC call center on 04-727747 if your card is lost or stolen, or if you suspect unauthorized use.
- Do not lend your card: Your card is the key to your account(s) so never lend your card to anyone, including family and friends.
- Do not disclose card information over the phone or the internet: Only deal with known and reputable companies when using your credit card over the Internet or telephone. Unless you have initiated the call, we strongly recommend that you do not give your credit card details over the phone. Never disclose information about your card in response to any e-mail or request. When using your credit card online, make certain your Internet shopping sites are secure. Look for "secure transaction" symbols like a lock symbol in the lower right-hand corner of your web browser window, or "https://..." in the address bar of the website. The "s" indicates "secured" and means the web page uses encryption. If you are in doubt about any Internet shopping site, check it out using Google by typing in their name and words like "fraud".
- Check your plastic card transactions: Keep your transaction slips and verify against your monthly statement when it arrives. Notify BBAC immediately of any error or possible unauthorized transactions. Make sure to destroy all your transaction slips before throwing them away.
- The usage of POS: Keep your card in sight during a transaction and watch for double swiping of your card. If a shop assistant looks like they are going to take your card out of your sight, ask if it is really necessary. Check your transaction slip for the card number and the amount charged to your card after every purchase. Keep a copy of all transaction slips (even of rejected / declined transactions), check them against your statement and immediately report any discrepancies.
- Put your photo on your BBAC credit card for extra security: Stop by your BBAC branch and submit your photo to the customer service. Continue to use your existing credit card until your new photo security credit card arrives. We will keep your photo on file so it automatically appears on your card when it is reissued. Your picture can help to protect you from fraud if your credit card is lost, stolen or used without your authorization. You may be able to use your photo security card as an addtional form of identification.
- Travel Tips: Plastic cards are the ultimate convenience when travelling on holidays or abroad, just remember to keep a little bit of cash on hand in case the networks are down or your card is not working. Make sure not to keep cards and cash in the same place - that way you will not lose everything.
